ORBIT feeds for the next generation of aquaculture technology

BioMar presents the next level of ORBIT feeds for salmonids as they continue to strengthen their focus on specialised feeds for advanced farming technologies, including recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS).

In 2011, BioMar launched the world’s first specialised feed for RAS, developed under the ORBIT concept. “At BioMar, we are fortunate to have some of the best RAS experts in the industry. Our RAS experts in fish nutrition, process technology, formulation, production, quality, product management, technical support and sales have spent many years researching and developing RAS feeds,” Ole Christensen, Vice President of BioMar EMEA, explains.

Next generation ORBIT feeds

Recent years has seen the rapid growth of advanced aquaculture farming technologies – such as RAS - across the world. Advanced technology needs an advanced feed, and this exciting development is backed up by BioMar.

“With our new ORBIT ranges we have advanced the feeds one step further to deliver higher performance on parameters that are key for success in advanced aquaculture systems,” Ole Christensen announces.

BioMar’s new ORBIT feeds for salmonids have an unbeaten focus on the selection and combination of raw materials for securing a second-to-none physical quality, solid faeces structure suited for RAS and with promising results on water parameters. ORBIT feeds also deliver solid performances on fish growth and feed conversion rate. Moreover, by maximising the utilisation of nutrients into growth, the new ORBIT ensures reduced waste and reduced nitrogen load on the biofilter. By this, ORBIT caters for exceptional water quality, to the benefit of both fish and the bacteria living on the biofilter.

“We are confident that our updated, innovative ORBIT feed solutions will meet the rising demand in RAS farming of salmonids,” says Ole Christensen.

Supporting RAS industry events

Sound and profitable development of farming in RAS systems is, as in any other aquaculture branch, highly dependent on knowledge sharing. BioMar supports this by not only participating in but also being the main sponsor of various workshops and conferences: the 5th Nordic RAS workshop 2019 in Berlin, the Aquaculture Europe Conference 2019 (also in Berlin) and the Aquaculture Innovation Workshop 2020 that is held in New York from April 30 - May 1, 2020, to mention just some major events.
